Nikki Adkins, LMHC
- Chronic Pain & Trauma Specialist
- Holistic Mental Health Provider
Nikki Adkins has extensive training in chronic pain management and trauma-informed care. While trauma can be a contributing factor to chronic pain, she recognizes that beyond the body/biological aspect of pain, there is substantial impact on the mental health of those navigating pain management. The chronic pain can also stem from trauma, aging, medical conditions, repetitive strain from a career, or other life circumstances. Her approach is rooted in understanding the unique origins of each individual’s pain and addressing both the emotional and psychological challenges that come with it.
She holds specialized training and certifications in:
- Certified Trauma Practitioner — Specialized training in various aspects of trauma, including assessment, diagnosis, and evidence based treatment modalities.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – For processing trauma and reducing pain-related distress.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Helping patients cultivate psychological flexibility and resilience.
- Behavioral Health & Pain Management Training (CBT-Chronic Pain) – Using cognitive-behavioral techniques to reframe pain experiences.
- Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) – Integrating mindfulness to manage pain and emotional distress.
- Somatic Experiencing (SE) – Addressing chronic pain linked to stored trauma and nervous system dysregulation.
- Polyvagal Theory – Supporting patients in regulating their autonomic nervous system for improved well-being.
- Diagnosing Psychiatric and Behavioral Health Disorders — Helping patients identify, diagnose, and treat psychiatric conditions that they may be experiencing.
With years of experience as a helper in healing, Nikki Adkins deeply values the opportunity to walk alongside those who have the courage to face their pain and reclaim their lives. She is dedicated to assisting individuals in shifting from a mindset of victimhood to one of survivorship—helping them rediscover their voice and take control of their healing journey.
Recognizing the biopsychosocial nature of chronic pain, she takes a holistic and collaborative approach to treatment. She works closely with patients and their medical teams to develop personalized treatment plans that incorporate psychoeducation, evidence-based interventions, and multidisciplinary care. Her goal is to empower individuals to build insight, develop coping strategies, and enhance their overall quality of life.
Through compassionate, individualized care, Nikki Adkins strives to help every client find strength in their journey and regain a sense of hope and autonomy in their lives.
